I think it's actually easier for people who haven't played other MMOs because then there's less risk of falling into exactly this trap - trying to play GW2 like it's a different game. I should go for the 2.1 legendries? If someone could summarize the steps for all new players and have the devs pin it would help a lot of people. I’ve been playing for several years and have never bothered with Legendaries since the time and effort has never proven to be worth it to me. However, you don’t have to go Legendary, ever. From there start farming towards the Legendaries you want. In my estimation, as a newer player get into Exotics and when you have a build you like get the Ascended items. Legendaries also require participation in WvW, for each item. They also involve several quest chains and collections.
Legendary items usually run hundreds of gold and several hours of gameplay to complete. For a nominal cost ascended items can be stat swapped if needed Ignoring the cost of leveling crafting, you will spend 20g - 50g an item depending on the stats and item type you are making. Your investment may be less than a gold to hundreds depending on the skin of the item.įor ascended gearing you will need to level the appropriate crafting profession plus the mats for the item. It is totally okay to roll in exotic gear which is plentiful and cheap, and offers most(potentially all) stat combos.
